Accolade: "Reverse Engineering Sense Of Scale"
@logindesign
's mesmerizing B&W fineart photograph is playing a visual trick to our eyes and is a great example how to use 'sense of scale' in another creative way...
The photographer composed his image around these two technical structures while eliminating all elements which could help us to understand the given distance between both objects, which results in an optical illusion - we might think the massive crane is rather tiny, almost like a children's toy, given the 'large' size of the streetlight which appears higher & bigger in this perspective.
Additionally, the longtime exposure capturing the motion in the clouds, further reduces any chances of the audience to understand the real dimensions of both objects within the frame.
Finally, the minimalistic composition and the robotic look of the 'one-eyed' street lamp lift this work into the surreal and give it a comical character as if both structures were alive and interacting!
As always please also visit the original artwork and share your thoughts and ideas with the artist! Thank you! 🤍
