We’ve been diving into the new Discovery Page, and it’s been a thrill to find artists and photographers whose work brings something genuinely new to the surface (the Newcomers sections are quickly becoming our go-to for spotting rising talent!).

“I’m Rafael Matos, a photography and cinema lover. My fascination with motion pictures started as a kid watching Jurassic Park — it was all about bringing characters to life. Still photography entered my world with our first family camera, a Canon 60D, capturing both motion and stills.
The real passion came later in cinema school, when I discovered #35mm film and learned how to light a scene. For me, the best thing about photography is that moment you catch the light forever.
These days, I work as a gaffer on commercials and feature films, always keeping my camera close — ready to capture that next perfect moment.”
