--Jan 28"Notions I pondered whilst painting HYGIEIA" - @meg_allan_art
A Motif ~
Hygieia, the Goddess of health, hygiene and prevention of disease, protects and nurtures the Serpent, a symbol of wisdom and eternal life, being healed and renewed back to good health by the medicinal bowl of Hygieia.
A Poem ~
The first stanza of ‘Ode to Hygeia’ by Scottish Poet Anne MacVicar Grant.
‘Daughter of Exercise and calm Content,
By Temperance nourish’d in the shady vale,
Where Dian’s nymphs resort with bows unbent,
To taste the freshness of the morning gale;
Divine HYGEIA, turn they steps again,
Nor let the plaintive Muse implore in vain! …”
A Talisman ~
In the act of creating a Painting, with Artist as conduit, the work is infused with a certain energy, a frequency. As a result, the painting ceases to be an object and becomes a talisman, in this case, a Talisman for healing for all those that lay eyes upon it.
‘Hygieia’ by Meg Allan is an Oil on Panel painting, part of the ‘Year of the Snake’ group show at Modern Eden, San Francisco. Celebrating the 2025 Lunar New Year.
