VERO Music artist @rosehardt returns with “Baby Love (feat. Masego). A potent blend of cutting-edge hip-hop and vintage soul.
“There was a point in my 20s when my heart had been broken,” he recalls, “I had been in a couple of relationships, one of which was particularly toxic, and it drove me to therapy. None of these relationships felt like they were going anywhere permanent. When I was in these trivial relationships, I wondered, ‘what means most to me? Love, not marriage. To me, marriage is a contract. Is it a partnership? I wasn’t sure.”
What Rosehard knew for sure was that he felt the primal pull of potential parenthood.
“Because my father died, I’d decided that the only way to regain that father/child relationship is to have a child,” he says. “That’s what was important to me. I wanted that relationship back. But I don’t need a romantic partner for that. I need a best friend, someone I love. We have a mutual understanding that we are coming together to raise a child. ‘Baby Love’ is about having a baby with your best friend. This came from the fact that I didn’t think I was going to have a romantic partner. I was lonely, and I wasn’t giving myself credit for the fact that I had all of these years ahead of me where I would grow and have this thing that I really want from life. These parameters have changed since I wrote this song because I currently have a partner.”
