When Thunder Jackson wrote those lyrics for his new single, ‘Steady Freddy’, they came from his gut – and from a greater understanding of his place in the world.
“I went through a dark period when I felt confused about where I fit and what I was putting out into the universe…“I had a preconceived notion that if you don’t have a huge rags-to-riches story, then you don’t matter. But when I sat down and thought about it, I realized that the things I’ve made do matter. I am somebody somewhere – and that’s awesome.”
‘Steady Freddy’ provides an intriguing preview into Jackson’s much-anticipated second full-length album, slated for release later this year.
“This was the first song I wrote for this project and it’s a great introduction to what we’re bringing into the world,” he says. The song is also indicative of a more direct approach to songwriting for the artist. “There is now more room for people to hear themselves and their lives in these songs. It is a far more communal experience.”
