Monochrome Resonance |
We caught up with David Payne, the creator of The BNW Bistro - a space dedicated to helping you take your black-and-white photography to the next level. From tips to inspiration, it’s a creative sanctuary for anyone looking to grow their craft. We asked David what inspired the Bistro and what’s next. |
What Is the Fundamental Vision of the BNW Bistro? |
The idea for The BNW Bistro stemmed from my love for black-and-white photography and a desire to connect with other like-minded photographers - whether they were practitioners or curious about monochrome image creation. What drove my vision was; |
"an opportunity to provide education, motivation, and inspiration to photographers who wanted to enhance or grow their artistic expression, particularly using Ansel Adams' Zone System." |
This vision led to the creation of The BNW Bistro 'creative resource center', initially on VERO and now expanded to YouTube, providing a more immersive experience for photographers looking to elevate their craft. Our current offerings include daily featured photo selections, The BNW Bistro Show (exclusive video interviews), and our latest series, How Did They Do That? (in-depth image breakdowns). |

How Can the VERO Community Get Involved and Contribute? |
We welcome VERO Community Members' involvement and contributions, and you can get involved in three simple steps. First, follow us on VERO (and YouTube). To have your photo featured, add one of our themed hashtags to your black-and-white images on VERO. Just make sure you're following The BNW Bistro, the photo is your original work, and it aligns with our guidelines. Lastly, keep an eye out for our How Did They Do That? artist announcements, and feel free to submit your questions in the comments for a chance to get a special shout-out during the live session. |
