The warmth of a window against a blood-red dusk. It’s quiet, cinematic, and a little uncanny. Feels fitting for this time of year, right?
Belgium-based photographer and practicing psychologist, Ilse Goyens discovered photography a decade ago with a borrowed camera and a trip to Japan. What began as curiosity grew into a lasting fascination with the interplay between light, mood, and perception. Her work moves fluidly between landscapes and street scenes, color and black & white, always chasing that cinematic tension where beauty meets unease. Whether shooting with her Sony A7IV or simply her iPhone, she seeks images that evoke both emotion and mystery. Reflections of how she experiences the world around her.
Her photograph 'The Spanish House' was taken in the park of Tervuren, Belgium, during a winter walk. Snow lingered on the ground, the air frozen and dimming toward dusk. Across the lake, the house appeared through the trees...haunting and luminous.
