Midyear Musings

Grateful to have you with us through the first half of 2025. The second half holds yet more intention.

This edition’s creative focus takes us to Canada’s West Coast, captured through the thoughtful lens of Shou Ye Gauthier in a piece titled 'Racing the Sun'.

Based in Ch’tl’am (West Vancouver), Shou captures the quiet intensity of the natural world, especially birds, a lifelong fascination. While much of their analog work draws inspiration from Fred Herzog and William Eggleston, their nature and wildlife photography is primarily digital. Their images have appeared in Wingspan Magazine and the book Raccoon by Daniel Heath Justice.

To accompany their evocative imagery, Shou offers this contemplative reflection:
