Death After Dusk
A Film by Chandler Balli
In the town of Buck Creek in 1899, the residents lived in fear of a murderer known as the Buck Creek Killer.
The weary sheriff, unable to bring the murderer to justice on his own, decides to assemble a team of nine deadly bounty hunters to track down and eliminate the ruthless killer once and for all. As the team embarks on their dangerous mission, tensions rise within the group, and it becomes apparent that everyone is hiding something. Doubt and suspicion plague their every move, threatening to tear them apart before they can get close to their elusive target. Shadows of their pasts and conflicting motivations clash, forcing them to confront their demons while facing the relentless pursuit of the Buck Creek Killer.
My co-writer and I embarked on a unique storytelling journey, weaving a tale about the cycle of revenge and the profound impact it can have on one's legacy. It's a theme that resonates with many, and we chose to set it against the backdrop of the old West. This setting allowed us to explore the extremes of losing morals and seeking revenge in the most dramatic sense, a narrative that we believe will captivate you.
- Chander Balli
'Death After Dusk' was filmed in a small western town in Texas that was just days away from being torn down. This town was built many years ago by co-writer Travis's grandfather, who has since passed away, leaving no one to maintain the town. Reflecting the themes presented in their film about preserving a legacy, they chose to shoot there before it was forgotten.
'Death After Dusk' is not just a project for them; it is a deeply personal journey and a testament to their love for filmmaking. The film is a two-hour, action-packed murder mystery set in Texas during the summer of 1899. What they achieved with very few resources and an extremely small budget showcases their passion. They hope viewers will feel the same when they see it.
