Kathryn Gallagher
The Sweetest Song
Grammy-winning singer/songwriter delivers blues-flavored guitar-charged rocker
From the Anna Kendrick’s Directed Netflix film ‘Woman of the Hour’, marking the singer’s music debut with VERO Music.
I wrote the song after Anna called me saying we couldn’t clear the song I’d originally been singing in the scene during filming. Knowing that I write songs, she asked if I could write 10 seconds of a song; it could be 'oooohs and ahhhs' to replace in the scene... woke up the next morning and wrote the song in twenty minutes, sent her the voice note and we went into ADR it later that week!
'The Sweetest Song' is the latest release in a largely independent music career that has amassed monthly global streams of over 55k. Gallagher has enjoyed a handful of viral singles successes – most notably the 2020 smash 'I’ll Get the Coffee,' which has recently scored more than 7.7M streams.
Kathryn made her Broadway debut as Martha in the Tony-nominated Deaf West revival of 'Spring Awakening' in 2015. She later returned to Broadway as Bella in Alanis Morissette’s musical 'Jagged Little Pill,' earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and winning a Grammy Award as a principal artist in the category of Best Musical Theatre Album.
On television, Kathryn appeared as Annika in Netflix’s hit show 'YOU,' and in HBO Max’s 'Gossip Girl,' Amazon’s 'Modern Love,' and The CW’s 'The Flash.' She stays busy in 2024 with a role in Alex Ross Perry's 'PAVEMENTS,' a musical biopic concert film.
