I am a software engineer and a self-taught photographer. I am originally from Ukraine and am currently based in London.
I started photography as a hobby 20 years ago, with on-and-off periods, no particular goals, and a fairly delayed recognition that people are the main subjects and driving force in my photography.
Having invested an increasing amount of time in recent years exploring the streets of London with a camera allowed me to break out of my comfort zone slowly and start engaging with people before taking the shot. The attached photos directly result from that progress and my newfound love for medium format.
Classic Car Boot Sale. London
These were taken during a two-day event celebrating vintage in all its forms: cars, fashion, music, and food. It was a great place to develop your portrait skills. The banner image is also taken from the series.
The Grand Flaneur Walk. London
These were taken during a wonderful event that brings together people keen on retro fashion and a philosophy that is best described by this quote:
“A flâneur is an ambivalent figure of urban affluence and modernity, representing the ability to wander detached from society with no other purpose than to be an acute observer of industrialized, contemporary life”
