Creator Stories
Gaui, a photographer and filmmaker, hails from the ruggedly beautiful Westfjords of Iceland.
His deep-rooted passion for capturing the world through a lens blossomed at the tender age of nine when his grandparents gifted him his very first camera. This pivotal moment sparked a lifelong journey into the art of photography.
Over the years, Gaui refined his craft, capturing the distinct beauty of Iceland's landscapes through his lens. His dedication and skill led to a significant milestone three years ago when he became an ambassador for Fujifilm, making him the first landscape photographer in Iceland to receive this title.
In his latest short film, 'Maybe Tomorrow,' Gaui explores themes of patience, compassion, and acceptance.
This video, or its message, has been stuck in Gaui's mind for a long time. He lived in the Faroe Islands for four years before moving to Denmark last January, and it was during this time that he came to fully appreciate the remarkable mentality of the Faroese people. The saying "Maybe tomorrow" encapsulates it perfectly; if something isn't possible today, then there's always tomorrow or the next day.
While shooting and editing my last short film, I had this strong feeling that I wanted to change my path… Go down a road that I have not explored enough… and to do so, I have to take some turns that I have not done in a while… Some of those turns are to a path I do not want to be on… but hopefully, they will lead me to the right one in the end… Let’s see.
