My VERO #5: Triana Terry
Multi-talented Triana Terry is not only a highly accomplished visual artist but also a much sought-after actress and performer.
"My first love has always been the visual arts," Triana says, "my father Richard Terry was also an artist. He owned a commercial studio in the heart of Soho for many years and my mother, Celia de Lamo, is a photojournalist and filmmaker. My work is hugely inspired by human behavior, faces and emotions. Whether it's portraying a character on film or on stage, painting a portrait or a scenario, I have to immerse herself totally to take on that true persona and image."
Terry’s artistic practice draws heavily on her training as an actor. Terry learned how to study a fictitious character and bring it to life through movement and speech but her solo show was a reverse of that - she studied real-life women and their traumatic experiences and used that to create a series of fictional characters.
